Contents Page Draft

For my contents page I tried to keep the same style and  simplicity that I designed on my front cover. This is because I believe that a continuous colour scheme and style of layout makes the magazine look more professional and well put together. As previously mentioned, I chose the colour scheme of purple, white and black as 80% of the people I asked to fill out my questionnaire said this was their preferred combination. 

I chose to use the column method as this is a popular choice on any contents page. This is because it lays out the information clearly and readers are then able to direct themselves around.

The 5 images on the page are there to give the readers a sneak peak of what to expect on certain pages. They also make the layout more colourful and visual so readers are then drawn into particular articles.

As an overall the layout is not very cluttered and shows a lot of white space. This look appears very modern which suggests that this magazine is up to date  and only includes the most talked about artists right now.






For my second contents page draft I tried to make the images the main focus, rather than the text. Images is what draws in the readers to a particular page. It is a visual sneak peak of what to expect on each article. However, to follow the conventions of any contents page, I placed my text in the column style method. This makes the page as a whole more understandable to read and work around. 

The choice of blue colour scheme is that the different shades work together well to produce a more calm page rather than hectic with clashing colours. Contents pages tend to be more simple with lots of boxes and columns. This is due to the fact that contents pages often need to be filled with plenty of information about each following page. Therefore, there is no room for complicated, cluttering features. 

As an overall, I believe this second choice of contents page draft is professional looking and supports the alternative genre well. Both text and images are placed in the popular column method in order for me to be able to fit the most information possible. Grids especially help even out the page to make it more appealing to the eye.
